UIL state boys basketball roundup: Clear Lake earns date with Plano West in 6A championship game
Houston Clear Lake dominated the paint, scoring 54
points inside, to defeat Schertz Clemens 78-69 in a Class 6A boys'
basketball semifinal Friday.
Clear Lake will face
top-ranked Plano West (32-2) at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the Class 6A
championship game at San Antonio's Alamodome.
Clear
Lake (35-2) added 16 free throws, and the full court pressure
engineered by coach Tommy Penders, son of former Texas and Houston coach
Tom Penders, allowed Clear Lake to account for 89.7 percent of its
offense at the line and in the paint.
Bradley
George led Clear Lake with 25 points, while Chris Stenerson scored 23
points with 15 rebounds and Orion Lewis contributed 13 points.
Cayne Edwards had 17 points and seven rebounds for Clemens (33-5), while Samuel Kearns scored 16 points.
